Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator Seeks Public Written Comments for Petroleum-Related Call for Bids NS25-1P

On July 7, 2025, the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator (CNSOER) announced  that it has issued petroleum-related Call for Bids NS25-1P. As part of the petroleum-related Call for Bids process, the CNSOER invites Indigenous groups and rights holders, fishers, and the public to provide written comments on the petroleum-related Call for Bids NS25-1P.

As the lead and lifecycle offshore energy regulator of the Canada-Nova Scotia offshore area, the CNSOER recognizes and understands the importance of engaging with Indigenous groups and rights holders, fishers, and the public, as we believe each group has specific and unique insights that should be taken into consideration prior to making regulatory decisions.

Public written comments will be accepted through a digital online form until September 5, 2025. To learn more about how to submit public written comments, visit the CNSOER website

After the public written comments period for petroleum-related Call for Bids NS25-1P closes on September 5, 2025, all written comments received will be reviewed by the CNSOER Board prior to considering the issuance of Exploration Licences.

To ensure our public written commenting period is fair and transparent, once the commenting period closes, we will post comments we receive on our web page and in a public 'What We Heard' report. However, comments of confidential nature (e.g. Indigenous knowledge) will not be posted publicly.
